Hearing testing & assessment.
We care about your hearing health. We highly recommend annual hearing tests — the same way you'd see your dentist or family doctor.
What a hearing test looks like.
- 01
Case history
We start by asking about your medical and hearing history — what you notice, when, and where it matters most in your day.
- 02
Otoscopy
Our clinicians look into your ears using an otoscope, checking for anything in the ear canal that might affect results or warrant referral to your doctor.
- 03
Middle-ear function
We check the eardrum and middle ear by performing tympanometry and immittance testing.
- 04
Sound-booth testing
Finally we run a series of tests in a sound-proof booth to assess whether there is hearing loss, its cause, degree and configuration, and the best treatment options for your lifestyle.
If you have hearing loss, our aural rehabilitation focuses on adjusting to it, making the best use of any hearing aids, exploring assistive devices, and taking charge of your communication.
Hearing aids require a prescription.
In Ontario, if you need hearing aids, you need a prescription. Audiologists and physicians are the only health professionals allowed to prescribe hearing aids to a hearing-impaired person.
